Welcome to the web page for the OSU Department of Crop and Soil Science. Crop and Soil Science is one of the largest departments at OSU and one of the more complex. Departmental faculty and staff are involved in applied and basic research and extension activities across the state. We offer undergraduate degrees on both the OSU and Eastern Oregon University campuses. We have graduate programs in both crops and soils. We operate the OSU Seed Certification Service, the OSU Seed Lab and a research farm of over 350 acres. Four student clubs are active within the Department – Crops Club, Soil Judging, BugZoo and Organic Growers. We have faculty who work directly with local clientele in 21 county offices across the state as well as at five branch experiment stations. We are the door to OSU in many rural communities. Whether your interest is in soil microbes, wheat breeding, small grain production, weed biology and management, leading edge biotechnology, archeopedology, potato breeding, soil physics, seed production or an array of other areas of science, Crop and Soil Science is for you I invite you to explore our web site and find out more.
