Requests for Departmental Membership by Tenure-track Faculty
Members
Approved by CSS Faculty December 18, 2002
- Faculty interested in CSS as a departmental home submit a letter of application
and current vita to the department head. The letter of application should
include information on why the applicant is interested in CSS as a academic
home, what the applicant sees as the benefits to themselves of being in CSS
and how they see CSS benefiting from their membership.
- This information is evaluated by the CSS administrative team (CSS head
and four associate heads) and the applicant is invited in to talk with the
team, if this is deemed necessary.
- The administrative team will make a determination if there appears to be
a possible fit and if so, places written materials on file for all faculty
to review and arranges for the applicant to present a departmental seminar.
The seminar will include a discussion period with all faculty. Following the
seminar, a meeting with those CSS faculty who would most closely work with
the applicant will be held. Following these meetings, any additional information
that is needed would obtained and clarified.
- A CSS faculty meeting will be held after all necessary information is obtained
and a recommendation on acceptance, achieved through a vote or consensus process,
will be made by the faculty to the department head.
