As part of the ODA-OSU Oilseeds Project the OSU PRISM mapping group (Parameter-elevation Regressions on Independent Slopes Model - for those interested in acronyms) is creating maps that show where specialty brassica seed and fresh and processed brassica vegetable crops have been grown in the Willamette Valley. These maps will be used by the Canola Advisory Group appointed by ODA Director Katy Coba in December 2008 to consider the need for change, if any, to the ODA Administrative Rules that govern canola production in Oregon.
A sample map that shows some of the locations of specialty seeds in the 2001 growing season is show below.
