ODA Grower Field Trial Insect Monitoring

As part of the OSU-ODA Oilseeds project, OSU Entomologists Drs. Amy Dreves and Glenn Fisher have been monitoring the large scale grower and small plot Hyslop Canola trials. Their reports are linked below. Sweep counts and pod counts are being made. In 2007, insects did not reach levels of significance in the winter canola crops. Seed pod weevils were found in all grower fields at levels of up to 4% pod infestation. In 2008 pollen beetles were present in grower fields but the beetle species is not the same as that whcih has caused damage in other seed producing areas (see execute summary document).
