The Oregon State University BugZoo is a student group interested in educating its members, other students and the public about the joys and importance of insects, other arthropods and reptiles and amphibians. BugZoo educates through live displays and hands-on activities, for both the public and its members.
We maintain an extensive collection of live arthropods to use in our educational programs. We educate all ages and all sorts of groups including elementary school students, adults, 4-H and church groups. We are especially interested in reaching local and rural schools with limited budgets. Our hope is to provide an unique, interactive experience typically unavailable to these students. We provide educators with information they can use independently in their classroom, including literature and tips on raising arthropods in the classroom. Each fall and spring BugZoo hosts Museum Days.
