1 All seed was treated with fungicide and insecticide (gaucho) unless otherwise noted.
Seeding rate was 30 seeds per sq. ft. 2 SW = soft white, Trit = triticale, ns = non significant. 3 Adjusted to 10% moisture, 60 lb per bu. 4 Weight of 1000 kernels. 5 Julian date.
* Plots were sprayed with fungicide at Flag leaf emergence, heading or left untreated in control plots. Leaf samples (30 randomly collected leaves) were collected before application and lesions counted to determine if a spray would be necessary (25% of leaves with Pycnidia in order to spray). During this season leaf samples indicated no need to spray at flag leaf or heading. Results confirm that during this season at Hyslop farm a fungicide spray to control Septoria would not significantly increase grain yield.
