1998 winter wheat yield trials at Mader/Rust farm, Buttercreek, OR

A subset of the statewide variety trial entries was planted at Buttercreek (Mader/Rust farm) to represent dry sites. Barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV) was bountiful at this location, as was the Hessian fly. Gaucho insecticidal seed treatment had a significant impact on yield. Gene did not do well in the test at Pendleton but was excellent at Buttercreek. Foote is not "designed" for this environment and did not perform well under these droughty conditions.
