How to Apply to the Graduate Program

The Department of Crop and Soil Science is looking for talented, driven graduate students committed to making a difference in agriculture and natural resource management. 


Admission to Oregon State's Graduate School requires that an applicant must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and a scholastic record and other evidence indicating aptitude for satisfactory graduate work. International students must show evidence of competency in English. A score of 550 (paper test or 213 computer test) on the TOEFL exam is required. Learn more about International Graduate Admission Requirements.

In addition, the Department of Crop and Soil Science requires you to find a major faculty advisor who will accept you as a student.  Prospective graduate students are strongly encouraged to contact a potential faculty advisor directly to learn about available graduate research opportunities and funding prior to applying to the Graduate School. Letters of Reference

We require that your letters of reference be submitted online through the Graduate School. Within two days of submitting your application, you will receive a link to the online reference management tool, where you can enter the names and email addresses of your references. They will receive instructions on how to submit letters and will receive reminders, if necessary. Submission Dates

We accept applications at anytime of the year, and accepted students can enroll during any academic term. To be considered for funding, we recommend you submit a complete application by January 15.  For university deadlines visit Oregon State's Graduate School.
