Biography

I am presently a part-time Instructor with the Department of Crop and Soil Science at Oregon State University; however, I live and work from my home in Longmont, Colorado. This situation provides me with a unique opportunity to relate to my students. I grew up in a small town in North Dakota, surrounded by agriculture. In the seventh grade, I wrote a brief paragraph describing my future career as a cytotechnologist. Little did I know that many years later, I would be evaluating kochia chromosomes under a microscope. I currently teach the online version of weed management to approximately 30 students every quarter. The challenge of designing, adapting, and revising current agricultural educational materials and tools for the online classroom is something I greatly enjoy. For example, I teach the fundamentals of sprayer calibration using items commonly found in the kitchen. In my spare time, I enjoy fishing and volunteering at my children’s school.
