Soil Science Club
The objectives of the Oregon State Soil Science Club are to learn, describe, and classify different types of soil. They determine important aspects of the soil and develop skills that help them to compete at Regional and National competitions.

pH Kits and Supplies
Separate pH kits are available for Western Oregon and for Eastern Oregon. Each kit contains:
- three 40 ml bottles of dye
- three color cards
- a spot plate
- and instructions
The Western Oregon kit covers the pH range from 3.8 to 7. It includes one 40 ml bottle of each of the following dyes:
- Bromocresol Green
- Chlorophenol Red
- Bromthymol Blue
The Eastern Oregon kit covers the pH range from 6.0 to 9.6. It includes one 40 ml bottle of each of the following dyes:
- Bromthymol Blue
- Phenol Red
- Thymol Blue
The following dyes are available in bulk quantities and as replacement supplies for the pH kits:
- Bromocresol Green - pH 3.8 - 5.4
- Bromthymol Blue - pH 6.0 - 7.6
- Chlorophenal Red - pH 5.2 - 6.9
- Phenol Red - pH 6.8 - 8.4
- Cresol Red - pH 7.2 - 8.8
- Thymol Blue - pH 8.0 - 9.6
When ordering dyes and color cards separately, please indicate specific name (e.g. Chlorophenol Red).
