Background Information: Students need to know definitions of qualitative and quantitative observations and inferences. Students also need to have measuring skills, especially length, and optionally mass, volume and density.
Experiment options/ applications : This experiment is useful for introducing observations and inferences using an inanimate object in which the students can use all of the senses (except hearing).
