Annual Ryegrass

Annual Ryegrass

Annual ryegrass is an annual bunchgrass commonly used to overseed pastures, lawns and golf courses in the fall. It will grow vigorously through the winter months when warm-season grasses go dormant. It establishes quickly and is very aggressive. It tolerates a variety of conditions including wet, poorly drained soils. Annual ryegrass is less winter-hardy than other grasses such as tall fescue and orchard grass. Annual ryegrass seed is larger than that of perennial ryegrass and before it is harvested has on awn on its tip.
