Also, we continue to have our weekly Friday veggie sales in the foyer of the Agriculture and Life Sciences building form 9-5 (every Friday - all summer long)!!!
Veggies of the week - GARLIC & BASIL!
Two great things that go great together!



Look for BASIL over the next few weeks - this is the season for it and it is at it's best right now. Stock up and make pesto for the year!!!

We harvest up to 10 lbs a week this time of year - basil not only sells itself, but everything else sells better when it is enveloped in the smell of basil!!!

We had a lovely informational table at Focus the Nation. Club members spent time talking to people about what we do as a club and how that relates to the environment and global warming. They got a free t-shirt too! We even made it into the Barometer! Check out the article here. |

Thanks to generous funding from the Agricultural Research Foundation we attended the 2008 Oregon TILTH Conference Organic Integrity: Principals, Practices and Opportunities. The conference was a feast of knowledge and snackies that left us wanting more. Thank goodness the Small Farms Conference is only a few weeks away! Click here for a few notes on what we learned. | Mainline Repairs: Out with the old and in with the new! We replaced a large section of our aging fire hose main waterline with pvc pipe. Oddly, we found we had more pressure in the system. | |
| Trellising Blackberries: On the advice of farmer Danny, we installed a trellis system for our blackberries and raspberries. Danny then pruned them and attached them to the wires. Look forward to a delicious harvest next year! | |
| Soil Building: After irrigating a portion of our lower beds, (with our newly built moveable, modular overhead sprinkler system...wow!) farmer Elaine tilled it up and planted phaecelia. In another couple months this will be tall and flowering and we'll incorporate it and plant a cereal/vetch cover crop for the winter. In this way we slowly build up our soil using only the power of the sun! | |

| Blueberries: Our two year old blueberry plants had their first infant berry crop this year. Julie takes care of them for a handful of heaven. | |

Harvest: Our garlic is out of the ground and drying on racks (thanks to the OSU veggie research farm for loaning us the space!). Also, our first Sun Gold cherry tomatoes are coming on, and they are delicious. Look for them at the Friday sale! |

It took us 7 years of talking about it, but we finally got a monsoon-proof timer switch on our pump! |

Our new chicken tractor is becoming a huge success. We have moved it a few times now, and the benefits to the soil will be reaped next year. |
