I. INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the Soil Science program of the Department of Crop and Soil Science. Most of you are beginning your professional and scientific careers. Your graduate experience is a unique opportunity in your career to learn scientific techniques, make a contribution to the scientific literature, and to develop professionally. It also will provide exposure to ethical dimensions and peer review activities. The more time and energy you invest, the greater the educational rewards and the preparation for a life-long science career.

This information is designed to answer some of the questions you will have, and to help you proceed toward your degree. It supplements information in the graduate catalog and university catalog, Graduate Student Survival Guide, and policy statements of Oregon State University but does not include all details of the requirements of the University Graduate School. The statement provides Soil Science Graduate policies.
