Henry H. Rampton Memorial Scholarship

The Henry H. Rampton Memorial Scholarship Fund recognizes the many contributions of Henry Rampton to the forage and seed crop industries of Oregon. Mr. Rampton received a bachelors degree from Utah State College in Logan in 1931 and a masters degree from Oregon State Agricultural College in 1933. His thesis was titled “Morphological and Economic Studies of Ryegrass under Western Oregon Conditions.” He was a student of Dr. George Hyslop. Henry worked as an assistant county agent in Union County from 1933-34, for the USDA as a forage agronomist from 1934-36 first in Corvallis, then Pullman, Washington, and then returned to Corvallis as a forage researcher in 1936. He worked with forages throughout his career and began more intensive seed crops work in the mid-1950s. He was involved in the introduction and testing of new species as well as management and production research. Henry will be remembered for his dedication to his profession and the many innovations he helped institute that led to the successful forage and seed crop industries of Oregon.

The Rampton Scholarship will be for either undergraduate or graduate students. Specific selection criteria are being developed.
