Breeding Program

The development of new winter wheat cultivars that can address current and future needs of the wheat industry in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest is essential to the profitability of Oregon wheat producers. The Oregon State University Wheat Breeding Program focuses on developing and releases soft white winter, hard red winter, and winter club varieties, leveraging a combination of conventional and emerging breeding techniques to improve productivity, biotic and abiotic stress tolerance, and end-use quality.
