Description
Gale is a new soft white winter wheat variety released specifically for the Willamette Valley. Gale has improved yield, disease resistance, and end-use quality compared to Rosalyn. It is awn-tipped, has similar plant height compared to Rosalyn, and has a heading date of 1–2 days earlier than Rosalyn.
The release of Gale, which was named to honor the late OSU extension agent Gale Gingrich, was announced at the 2024 Hyslop Farm Field Day. Check out the news release here.
