The Department of Crop and Soil Science solves problems related to field crop agriculture, natural systems, rural and urban economies, and natural resource management.

Our faculty and staff are involved in basic and applied research across Oregon and around the world studying topics related to a safe, stable food system, promoting sustainability in agriculture,and understanding and protecting our water and soil resources. We have faculty in Extension offices and at branch experiment stations located across the state who immersed in their communities and work first-hand on local issues.

For undergraduate students, we offer a B.S. in Agronomy and a B.S. in Soil Science, as well as minors in Agronomy, Soil Science, and Entomology.

Students interested in a graduate education can, depending on research focus, pursue a M.S. or Ph.D. in Soil Science or Crop Science (also with specialization in Entomology or Plant Breeding & Genetics).

Our mission drives us to partner with students and both public and private sector individuals and groups to create new  knowledge and skills that improve the future of farming and natural resource systems in Oregon and beyond.
